Abundant Wellness Center Strives to be First Choice in Health and Wellness

By Kelly Church

Being the number one choice for people seeking self-care, and improved health and wellness is the goal for the team at Abundant Wellness Center, a Chicopee, MA facility for healing. Director and Licensed Massage Therapist Debee Boulanger said Abundant Wellness Center has services for clients of all ages and with a variety of needs.

"Typically, most of our clientele think of our services such as massage, acupuncture, reiki and reflexology as a supplement to their wellness routine," Boulanger said.

These services can offer clients a wide range of relief from stress, insomnia, fertility issues, chronic pain, range of motion and more. Boulanger said many clients come in at different frequencies; some visit once a week, some on a monthly basis. There are also clients who opt for longer services, and fit in shorter services between them, such as a 15 to 20-minute chair massage.

"It all depends on their lifestyle and needs," Boulanger said. "If a client has had long-term physical pain, their needs can be quite different."

In order to determine each client's needs, the Abundant Wellness Center has every new client fill out a health history form that each therapist reviews one-on-one with the client. This helps determine what services will best suit the client. If necessary, the facility's staff will recommend clients to seek outside health care professionals like a physical therapist, a chiropractor or their doctor. For clients who's needs can be remedied at Abundant Wellness Center, the one-on-one evaluation will determine if the client will best benefit from massage, reiki, reflexology, acupuncture or one of the many other services.

"We are not a medical facility or a [posh] spa," Boulanger said. "We have very skilled, licensed and certified practitioners working out of the Abundant Wellness Center, who are passionate about helping people in the community."

In addition to relaxation services, Abundant Wellness Center offers fitness classes, including Tai Chi, yoga and chakra dance, a new addition to the service menu. Chakra dance is offered every Sunday morning and mixes ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop, African dance and belly dancing.

Occasionally, the facility will welcome outside guests to host events and services at Abundant Wellness Center. Boulanger said Rachel Ginther from the Garden of One comes once a month to provide detoxification sessions like the Ionic Foot Bath, Earconing or Lymphatic Drainage Therapy. Last year, Rachel Ginther helped us here by overseeing the building of the Center's Celtic Cretan Labyrinth. The labyrinth is surrounded by a garden on the facility's property, including flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, grass and stones. Walking the labyrinth is very a serene meditative experience and significantly helps with a reduction in stress.

"We invite our clients to stop by anytime, before or after a session is very popular, and walk in silent meditation and prayer to obtain peace and spiritual inspiration," Boulanger said.
