What would you say the most common moving needs are for most people?

While every move is unique, there are some common moving needs our customers require like packing, expert move logistics, and superior customer service. Before the move, customers can use Gentle Giant's online moving supply store to easily order quality packing supplies like boxes, tape, and bubble wrap directly to their door. Once materials arrive, customers can get packing tips from our "Pack Like the Pros" YouTube playlist. As the move day approaches, the stress of the situation can mount, so Gentle Giant provides a Move Coordinator for each job that can address any concerns or changes a customer may have. Our Coordinators are highly trained to work with each customer to relieve moving related stress. Finally, after the move, Gentle Giant has a dedicated customer service department that follows up with customers to make sure their experience was the best possible. At Gentle Giant, we're not happy until each customer is happy.

What are some of the most common moving needs that you've seen homeowners do on their own?

As early as the estimate process, Gentle Giant provides each customer with a detailed, timed out Moving Checklist which highlights ways to be proactive about their relocation. This checklist covers a packing guide, donating items, switching phone and cable lines, etc. When it comes to moving, we like to stress that preparation goes a long way towards a seamless transition.

Can you briefly talk about a few of the lesser-known or less-frequently used services that a typical mover can provide?

How would you compare the cost of a full-service move versus DIY or partial self-move?

The analogy I present to folks looking to DIY or cut corners on their move is: If you needed service on your new car, would you offer two kids beer and pizza to give it the ol' college try, or would you want to pay a fair price for a trained, experienced mechanic? As for a partial self-move, we are happy to execute moves of all sizes. Some customers move some items ahead of time then hire us to move the bigger items.

Do you have any insider tips about moving companies that might help people?

In addition to packing yourself ahead of time and donating/selling unwanted items before move day, a great way to save some money is to have flexibility on your move date. If you can move in the middle of the month, that would be less expensive than the very busy end of the month time.
