Tell us a little bit about your company and its foundation.

Nightingale was founded in Hollis NH1972. Initially a residential roofing contractor evolved into commercial industrial roofing contractor serving the New England and Eastern NY area. Currently based in Dublin NH we are still servicing our existing clients.

What are some of the services your company provides?

Services we provide For the New England area: Residential & Commercial New and Re-Roofing, Carpentry and Custom Sheet metal, Repairs & Service, and Wood Slate Metal Roofing Tar and Gravel Membrane Roofing. Consulting Inspections and Roof Litigation,there we provide Expert Witness consulting.

Please provide a list of the different types of shingles/roofing materials that exist on the market with a short explanation of each.

Roofing Shingles Composition shingles asphalt with a Fiberglas mat . Three distinctive styles standard three tab, architectural, and premium, The most popular is the architectural. Although depending on your projects style it would be personal choice in regard to the look Personally I prefer the premium.

Out of these types, which is the most common and why?

The Architectural according to my vendors is far the most popular. It sports a three dimension look. The tend to wear longer than the standard three tab.

What are some signs that I should consider repairing my roof?

Loose. Roof Wear. Curling of composition shingles, pieces of roofing material in the yard, different coloration on the material. Most obvious of course are leaks.

What benefits are associated with flashing?

Flashing is the least understood term in the trade. Flashing is a change of direction in the roof system. Whether it be a wall. dormer ,chimney, vent pipe. decking, poles.These are some of the areas that flashing must be addressed.

Do you have any more knowledge on this subject you think our readers should be informed about?

With today's Internet the layman is able to address and acquire product knowledge from the manufacturer's or the National Roofing Contractors Association Always make certain your contractor is state licensed and insured.
