Divine Massage Refreshes And Restores Body And Mind

By S. Mathur

Even people who live or holiday by the sea need to relax sometimes. For New Bedford and Mattapoisett residents and visitors, Divine Massage offers relaxing massage in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The studio opened in 2010 at the two seaside locations and has become a favorite. Owner Debbie Bolton and her staff believe in providing pain relief, one massage at a time.

Locals and visitors alike love the seaside themed decor.

"The decor you see is beautiful seascapes, complete with sandy beaches, starfish, and even mermaids," Bolton said. "The client also can't help but notice the soothing smell of essential oils diffusing in the office. Clients just love the lavender and lemon!"

There are different services for those wanting stress relief as well as those who just want to relax in comfortable surroundings. Sometimes clients suffer from chronic pain in the neck and shoulders, and find relief through massage therapy.

"We have several therapists on staff who are truly gifted at deep tissue massage," Bolton said. "We also have staff who are licensed for prenatal therapy, for the moms to be, and for lymphatic drainage, which is becoming more popular for post surgical patients. We also offer hot stone massage."

Each client begins with a complete consultation, and treatments are tailored to individual needs. Staff keep detailed notes in order to monitor client progress. Clients can choose from different types of massage including relaxation, deep tissue, prenatal, foot massages, and more. The studio also offers couples massage and mother daughter massage for those who would like to share the experience with a spouse, partner, friend or family member.

Deep tissue massage is recommended for clients who have some experience of massage therapy. It helps to reduce chronic stress on the body resulting from misalignment, repetitive motions, and past injuries. It helps to flush toxins from the body but clients must be careful to drink plenty of water afterwards to help the process. Lymphatic drainage massage helps in post surgery recovery, and can be both preventative and therapeutic.

Hot stone massage reduces stress, promotes circulation, and leaves you feeling rejuvenated. In this treatment, hot stones are placed at various points of the body to relax the muscles and ease tension.

Gift certificates are available for all the services. Clients can also consult spiritual medium Vanessa, who has been with the studio for two years. She does readings 30 minutes in length. Bolton and her staff pride themselves on healing clients to restore and refresh their bodies and their minds.
