Anthony LaPuma's work ethic was formed several decades ago while attending parochial school, where he put in extra hours to achieve a good grade on a penmanship paper.
"One thing I did learn is that you stay with something until it is finished, no matter the time or effort needed, you complete the project at hand," LaPuma said.
Fast-forward to 2017 and that same philosophy is evident in the work quality and service that Dream Builderz, LaPuma's Braintree-based contracting company, has been delivering to homeowners throughout the greater Boston are since 1975. According to his customers, LaPuma always returns a phone call, walks customers through every detail on a project, and is honest and dependable. His team also cleans up after themselves and knows how to contain sawdust and other debris from the work area. A licensed and insured contractor, LaPuma and his team do it all from renovating bathrooms and bedrooms to replacing roofs and creating additions for living space.
LaPuma's early career was in the corporate world working for UPS, but he soon discovered that office politics weren't for him, and he wanted to follow his passion for construction and the level of creativity and problem solving involved.
"The aroma of the newly turned soil as we form and shape the land for our customers dream project is the scent of satisfaction for our customer and for Dream Builderz' as we walk down the construction road together," he said. "Perhaps this is why one real estate broker gave me the nick name 'On Time Tony'."
Dream Builderz's online portfolio illustrates that no job is too large or complicated for LaPuma and his team. Recent projects include a dark cement basement transformed into an entertainment section and workout area, a shady front porch and steps added to a home, and window replacement in a ranch. Although residential customers make up most of the client base, the company has also renovated commercial and retail buildings.
LaPuma believes in giving back to the local community and helping others in need, so one Saturday per month he volunteers his time and skills to help someone in financial need upkeep a feature of their home for free. This could be building a handicap ramp for a disabled homeowner or helping a senior by repairing their front steps. He provides the same level of service and work to these people as he does his paying customers, attesting to his upbringing to always treat others with fairness and respect.
"Dream Builderz's goal is to be known as the 'can do contractor', the company that takes on and completes every job," he said. "We have a saying, 'the customer is always the customer.' What this means is that we strive to meet every request presented by our client's and treat them the way they want to be treated."
