Eclectic Cuisine in a Historic Downtown: Cork Wine and Tapas Keeps Guests Coming Back for More in New Bedford

By Paul Rowe

Located in the Seaport Cultural District, Cork Wine and Tapas prides itself on being the most unique and boutique event space in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

"Cork Wine and Tapas works hard to nurture relationships within New Bedford's art and culture community. Presenting programming on AHA! Nights (a free arts & culture celebration which takes place the second Thursday of every month), sponsoring performances at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, and hosting artist events for New Bedford Open Studios are just a few ongoing ways that Cork shows support for the creative economy---a driving force behind making the city a lively, innovative, diverse place to be," says Keri Cox, Marketing Consultant for Cork.

Featuring amenities including a private bar, in-room fireplace, and an outdoor deck with heater and private bathrooms, the Cork never fails to impress guests. The Taber Room on Floor 2 is a sought after spot for events from weddings and baby showers to corporate meetings and creative fundraisers.

"Currently Cork is hosting a series of evening gatherings leading up to the Tedx New Bedford event in November," says Cox. "Past events have included the Naughty & Notorious Comedy Club, a Silent Disco Dance Party, the Annual Boos and Spirits Halloween Happening as well as Farm To Table dinners and a jazz music series.

ead Chef John Bentley takes full advantage of Cork's location along the Farm coast in one of the number one fishing ports in the country by creating a rotating seasonal menu that reflects the time of year as well as the local bounty of craft food and drink. Specializing in creative cuisine, the Cork menu highlights New Bedford's love affair with the sea while including a wide range of options for both vegetarian and meat lovers alike.

"Long time customer favorites include the pan-seared New Bedford sea scallops as featured on the Phantom Gourmet, the cheese platter and our very own Philly cheese steak rolls," says Cox. "Summer favorites include the ceviche, carnitas tacos, local littlenecks, and fried lobster croquettes."

Cork has tapped into the true spirit of historic downtown New Bedford. Cork Wine and Tapas has created a unique dining experience with an emphasis on ambience, familiarity, and outstanding cuisine.
