We are a general carpentry business but also offer general contracting services including renovations and remodeling.
Immediately after high school, I went to work with a builder about 27 years ago and have been in the trade for 27 years, but have owned my own business for about 20 years.
Most importantly, homeowners should focus on the quality of the work as well as the ability of the contractor to be punctual and efficiently manage a schedule. Without punctuality and time management skills, the quality of the work may not be enough for the homeowner to have a pleasant experience.
One issue we frequently encounter is putting new fixtures into an old building; for example, a building has dramatically settled or is not level. It can be difficult to put these great new products into older homes; however, we have a successful track record in doing this.
Yes, we do, it's all a matter of what customers want to pay for. For example, we often use spray foam insulation and energy efficient windows and doors, which can save customers a lot of money in the long run.
Customers sometimes run into issues when they end up choosing the lower price over quality. Additional complaints might include contractors being unclear about how long a project will actually take. So, to sum up, I'd say the biggest issues are projects being extended due to incompetence on the contractor's behalf, or an inability to do the job in a timely fashion. Oftentimes, homeowners are misled as to the reality of how much time some of these projects take. Additionally, ordering special-order products in advance of the project is helpful.
I'm constantly getting information on new products. I try to be aware of these new products and recommend new products for my clients making sure that products will stand the test of time and that the cost is within the budget.
Extensive repairs, renovations such as kitchens and baths. Really, we can service anything with an existing home, but we don't build new homes. From the smallest job to a full, extensive renovation, we can meet your needs. We also hold a window and door installation certification for both new and replacement windows and doors.
