Orleans Restaurant, Somerville's One-Stop-Shop for Your Favorite Sports Events and a Fresh Menu

By Kelly Church

Designed as a "casual, contemporary restaurant and sports bar" for the Somerville, MA area, Orleans Restaurant has a seasonal menu and something to do nearly every night of the week. The bar is stocked with craft beer, a large whiskey selection, cocktails and multiple high definition televisions so you can take in major sports events.

"We feature a menu full of comfort food favorites with a twist," General Manager Jessica Bunnell says. "We have a huge menu of burgers and sandwiches, which are always a great choice to pair up with one of our craft beers on draught."

Bunnell says favorites include the Spicy Lucy, a cheese-stuffed burger topped with fried jalapenos and smoked bacon. The buttermilk fried chicken is always a top customer pick, served with mashed potatoes, bacon gravy and green beans for a satisfying meal. The buffalo mac 'n cheese is another favorite with a kick, with crispy chicken, buffalo cheese sauce, pasta and a cracker crust. The blackened fish tacos offer another menu option with a little more of a Latino twist, served with a sweet carrot slaw, baja aioli, chimichurri, black beans, rice, sour cream and pico de gallo.

"Orleans is a Davis Square institution with a great location and lively bar and restaurant scene, craft beer, cocktails, fantastic patio for the summer months and more," Bunnell says. "Orleans has something going on almost every night of the week."

Weekly activities include trivia with a weekly jackpot worth up to $500 every Wednesday; 30-cent wings on Thursday nights; live music every Friday night; brunch on weekends and a special jazz-themed brunch on Sundays. Additionally, special menus are featured on holidays, including Mother's Day and St. Patrick's Day, and special events inspired by menu items, even a beer dinner.

According to Bunnell, the Davis Square environment is the perfect place for a restaurant and bar like Orleans. With a population mostly of young professionals and families, a more "vibrant pedestrian scene" is brought in by the Davis Square Red Line T Stop. Due to outdoor music, performances, restaurants and many coffee shops, the area attracts a lively group.

During sports seasons, you can count on Orleans to show all Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots games. They're also a major stop for those who want to experience sports packages, including: NFL Sunday Ticket, NCAA Mega March Madness, NBA League Pass, ESPN Full Court, ESPN Game Plan and NHL Center Ice. Orleans is open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
