Pauli's: Where Everyone's A Regular

By Marina I. Jokic

A beloved restaurant in Boston's North End, Pauli's specializes in some of the freshest fast food around such as lobster rolls, salads, sandwiches, and pasta. Owner Paul Barker has received a lot of buzz in the media. Featured in the HuffPost, Boston Herald, Thrillist, and Boston Globe, his restaurant is known for its one-of-a-kind U.S.S. Lobstitution, a roll with 1.5 pounds of succulent lobster meat.

Touted at the biggest lobster roll in New England, the Lobsitution features prime knuckle and claw meat, which arrives daily from Globe Fish Co. at Marine Industrial Park in Boston. Voted one of the "10 Sandwiches You Should Definitely Try Before You Die" in the HuffPost blog, the Lobstitution has definitely earned its name.

Simplicity and freshness are key at Pauli's. No-nonsense ingredients and fresh-off-the-boat lobster make for a winning combination and that's why their menu gets top billing every time. Barker started working in his family's food business at the young age of eight and grew to love his profession.

"Back then, the North End was a neighborhood where everybody actually knew your name, and 'freshness, quality and value' weren't just trendy catch phrases, they were simply expected," he said. "Today, Pauli's is based on that same philosophy [because] we believe you deserve food that's always served wicked fresh, that always tastes crazy good, and that doesn't cost a lot of money."

At Pauli's, you'll find the comfort food alongside a slew of healthy choices. With over 19 signature sandwiches and wraps to choose from, the menu is replete with traditional and more innovative options. There are Italian classics such as the Mediterranean chicken sub, eggplant parm, and grilled chicken. The Killer Bee, despite its menacing moniker, serves a crispy chicken cutlet with bacon and provolone topped with lettuce, tomato, and a honey mustard sauce. The seafood assortment leans heavily on the city's staple food, the lobster, but also features crowd favorites like fish and chips and tuna melt.

"No matter what type of event you're hosting, at Pauli's, we pride ourselves on offering our clients a wide selection of menu items ranging from the traditional to the unexpected," Barker said. "We strive to offer food that comes from as many local sources as possible and our clients can always be assured of a consistent level of freshness, quality, and value."

Pauli's has maintained one of the highest customer reviews among Boston restaurants, with regular shout-outs on Yelp and Trip Advisor. There are so many places that offer sandwiches, soups, and salads, but Pauli's has managed to differentiate itself through superb service, ingredients bursting with flavor, and time-tested recipes that harken back to a simpler time of affordable, hearty foods and unhurried lunches.
