Plymouth Bay Catering Continues to Please With Outstanding Food and Service

Since its inception in 1984, Plymouth Bay Catering of Kingston has overseen events for some pretty prestigious clients including Martha Stewart, Microsoft, and even the U.S. Army. According to manager Mark Beaton, the secret to its success is a satisfying, flexible menu with many familiar items that are generally crowd pleasers.

"Our catering company has been a staple in the Kingston/Plymouth area for over 30 years," he said. "Our food quality is superb while still being reasonably priced. We're very attentive to the client's desires."

The full-service catering company operates its own venue for events, Jones River Trading Post. The antique mill-style building seats up to 225 guests and is situated on the Kingston River. The facility features a fully stocked ornate bar made in Dublin, a bridal suite with a dressing area and bathroom, and vintage rowing boats suspended from the dining area's ceiling. The outdoor space features beautiful views of the river and a sprawling tree for the backdrop of a wedding ceremony.

Clients that select the venue for their event receive the service of a wedding coordinator to make sure all of the details come together as well as a choice of several menus that include options for passed appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts. One of the custom meals available is a classic New England buffet featuring stuffed clams, chowder, lobster, steak, and corn on the cob. Clients can elect to have a pasta station with a variety of sauces and pastas or carving station with their choice of two proteins. Plymouth Bay Catering also offers what it calls a vessel party menu for the more social event that doesn't require fixed seating. The vessel party menu features mini portions of salads and appetizers that are easily portable while one works a room.

The company offers many options for off-site catering including a full brunch, themed buffet meals, and add-on stationary displays. For those that prefer to pick up food and serve it themselves, a convenient pick-up party menu offers hot and cold hors d'oeuvres such as scallops wrapped in bacon and mini shrimp kabobs. Entrees in an assortment of pasta dishes and meat dishes are available in two sizes for 15 or 30 servings of food.

All of the food is made fresh from premium local ingredients. As Beaton affirmed, the menus are customizable and can be altered to easily accommodate food allergies or diet requirements.

"We're excellent at tailoring a menu to the clients wishes," he said. "We're also very good with dietary restrictions."

The company has catered for weddings, fundraisers, corporate events, showers, and more throughout southern Massachusetts. They've been featured on and, and regularly receive five star reviews from clients that are still raving about the food they were served months after a wedding or another event.
