After several years working as a personal trainer, certified strength and conditioning specialist Callie Dubrow started DPT after realizing she wanted to make a bigger impact and help more people each day. "I took my experience as an athlete, training with a team, to create our small group personal training atmosphere," said the former collegiate basketball and soccer player.

The training programs at DPT create a family like atmosphere where small groups train with Callie and her staff. New members are also assigned a personal mentor, a current client who's been at DPT for at least six months and has volunteered to help for the first 21 days of their kick-start program plus about three to four weeks more. They have email and in-person access to the volunteer mentor, and if their schedules allow, the new client and mentor can even train together or connect at one of the gym's new client and mentor coffee hours.

"We realized that the first few weeks can be tough for people, so we created our client mentoring program," said Callie. "This interaction gives the new clients the space to ask questions and to ensure that what they are feeling -- soreness, uncertainty, maybe a little fear -- is okay and totally normal."

Along with the small group training and mentoring, members can take advantage of seminars, nutrition programs and other events. Callie believes that family, caring, fun, a no-judgment atmosphere and making the training more than just a workout are what make the Dubrow Performance Training methods work: "We genuinely care about their success."

According to Callie, one of their best success stories is a client who came in with really low confidence, looking to lose a lot of weight. She was focused, trained three days per week, completed their 90-day nutrition plan and made friends at the gym who really supported her. Fourteen months later, she had lost over 80 pounds. She now does body-weight chin-ups, handstand push-ups and deadlifts over 300 pounds. "Best of all, her confidence is through the roof and she's always the first one to step-up and try something new," said Callie.

There is a definite sense of community within the gym, and it extends to the outside community as well. One Saturday a month, DPT holds a benefit workout that is open to all clients, their friends and family, and all community members. Each participant donates a minimum of $10 or a specific item, and they can work out with the DPT family for an hour. These started in June 2012.

"We pick an organization based on what our clients are involved in," said Callie. "I wanted to step-up and do something for the community. I tell my clients all the time that we are all able to be a little piece of good in the world. We can use our vehicle of fitness to bring about change and good in the community."
