7 Fun Facts About The Thirsty Scholar in Somerville

By Kara Lawson

Serving alcohol is included in the definition of pub in almost every dictionary, though most don't mention its long history as a public house, typically lively atmosphere or friendly patrons -- which are all part of Pat Cross and Gerry Brennan's definition and their real-life pub, The Thirsty Scholar in Somerville, Mass.

The co-owners opened the 125-seat Irish pub and sports bar in 1995. In addition to 26 beers on tap and a hearty selection of Irish-American food, customers can watch the Big Ten Network and NFL Sunday Ticket on 11-flat screen TVs. Other popular events are Sunday brunch and Sunday trivia night.

I recently had the chance to ask Gerry about The Thirsty Scholar's history, menu and upcoming events. Keep reading below to find out what he has to say.
