Tasteful Adventures Lives up to its Name with Diverse Flavors and Healthy Selections

By S. Mathur

Lisa Mattei-McDonald, Co-owner of Tasteful Adventures, describes the catering menu as "eclectic, diverse, all natural and as organic as possible. While we can do traditional dishes highlighted by most caterers in the area, we pride ourselves in offering diverse alternatives."

Tasteful Adventures lives up to its name with varied food and flavor profiles, from Greece, eastern Europe and the Middle East through western Europe, New England, the Midwest, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Another differentiator is that all food is freshly made and locally sourced, she adds: "Everything we make is from scratch, including the ketchup we use for our signature BBQ sauce. We make our own pita bread, rye and brioche breads and pastry crust."

Since opening in 2014, Tasteful Adventures has already developed a long list of high-profile clients in the area, including the Plymouth Philharmonic, the Fuller Craft Museum, Plymouth Center for the Arts, Pilgrim Hall Museum and more. They even filled in at the last minute for a PAWS in the PARK canine event at the Natural Resources Trust in Easton. In general, Tasteful Adventures will cater most types of events including weddings, large cocktail events, private parties, BBQ's, Burger Bars, Taco Bars and other businesses and family functions.

They can also be found at The Marketplace at Simpson Spring in Easton. It is their second Winter with them. The marketplace is the oldest water bottling plant in the country and they also do artisan old-fashioned sodas. They are there every Saturday unless they're catering. Apart from catering and farmers markets, another way to bring home this delicious food is to learn to cook it!

Tasteful Adventures cooking classes cover the basics as well as advanced recipes and techniques. Mattei-McDonald explains that "We can also tailor classes to meet the needs of the student or use this platform for a private party or dinner party. Our best advice to aspiring chefs is practice! Taste what you make as it goes through stages - not just at the end, and don't over season!" Classes cover Kitchen Basics, The Perfect Sunday Dinner, Cooking for Low Glycemic Index, and Eating Healthy and Cheap.

And if you're feeling lazy or overworked, Tasteful Adventures also has a Personal Chef service that can provide everything from a special dinner party with memorable dishes like Rubbed and Slow Smoked Brisket, Six Cheese Mac 'N' Cheese with diced slab bacon and lobster, Oaxacan Mocha Chocolate Cake with Goat's Milk Caramel to Scallop Cream Soup, Rack of Lamb, Whipped Potato with Roasted Garlic, Baked Beets with Onion and Cream and Chocolate Mousse, to weekly healthy and balanced meals.

The catering menu too can be customized, says Mattei-McDonald, to suit particular tastes, budgets and dietary needs. All food, including weekly or monthly meals, can be delivered in the area from the Upper Cape to Boston.
