Welcome to Billington Sea Kayak, Where They Believe It's Not Work When it's a Passion

By Elisha Neubauer

At Billington Sea Kayak, they do things a little differently. Why? Because, at Billington, they all share a passion for the work they do. It's not 'work' to the staff at Billington, it's a passion and it shows in every little thing they do.

"Billington Sea Kayak has been in business for thirty years," states Doug Gray, founder and owner of Billington, when we sat down to discuss his hobby-turned-company. Gray proceeded to explain what made Billington stand out from the crowd, allowing it to make it the coveted thirty year mark in today's economy. "For those looking to purchase a canoe or kayak, we offer a wide selection and people can demo many different models here at our shop."

The shop is located on Billington Sea, a two hundred and seventy acre lake located about a mile from downtown Plymouth. "Our products are of excellent quality and range from recreational use to more demanding on-water paddling," he explains. "Our pricing is fair and some products are usually on sale at any given time."

Of course, it's more than just great products that bring the droves to Billington Sea Kayak. "Our staff are all kayakers and are knowledgeable of the products we sell," Gray boasts. "Our entire staff knows and enjoys kayaking and canoeing. Unlike many stores, we have a passion for paddling and we know our products."

For those looking to purchase equipment, Billington has everything you could think of, including kayaks, canoes and related accessories such as life jackets (PFD's), paddles, gloves, water wear boats, roof racks for vehicles, fishing accessories for boats, spray skirts, books and many other items for water-sports activities. If you're not in the market, but are looking to just rent some equipment?no worries, they can cover that, too.

"We have kayak, canoe, and stand-up board rentals," explains Gray. "These rentals are for use only on Billington Sea where we are located but rental rates are very reasonable." Gray goes on, telling us that newbies even get a little extra with their rentals. "Customers are given a little history of this area as well as an explanation of how to paddle as well as what points of interest can be found while paddling."

Whether you're an expert, beginner, or somewhere in-between, Billington Sea Kayak can handle all of your needs. They even offer multiple trips and events throughout the year. "In addition to our rentals, we offer several ways for groups to enjoy paddling here at Billington Sea Kayak," says Gray. "Our Billington Sea waterfront facility offers an amazing venue for your group event whether it be a group lesson, youth or church group, birthday party or team-building event!"

The facility also offers a Sunset Kayak Tour, Sunset SUP Tour, as well as programs for youths. "We have the Youth SUP Camp and Kayaking and Science Camp," details Gray. "And if you are looking for a challenge, our Build a Duct Tape Kayak Workshop is a great way to put your team to the test!"
