You'll Never Feel Alone at CrossFit Bridgewater

By Jake Levin

Professional coaching is imperative to true long-term success, Jason Caldas said.

Caldas is one of the main coaches at CrossFit Bridgewater, a gym with two locations in southeastern Massachusetts (Bridgewater and Dartmouth). He has been a trainer and coach for over 20 years and is certified in CrossFit Olympic Lifting, CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Mobility, CrossFit Aerobic Capacity, CrossFit Football(Sports), CrossFit Strong Man, CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Level 2, while also containing certifications as a USAW Sport Coach, ISSA Personal Trainer and an ISSA Sport Nutrition Specialist.

With such qualifications, he knows what he's talking about. But Caldas has been there, done that in terms of becoming fit, and has a great deal of empathy for what people are going through attempting to get in shape.

"We all have felt overwhelmed when entering the gym," Caldas said. "With the help of a coach, as well as the support from the community, you are more likely to get and stay motivated."

CrossFit, which is defined as constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity, includes activities such as gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and many more, all with one common goal: to create healthy, strong movement patterns that transfer and improve day-to-day lives.

"This methodology can help anyone from an elite athlete to an elderly woman get in shape and live a healthier life," Caldas said.

At CrossFit Bridgewater, the coaches work together to make sure that clients are moving in a safe way and progressing properly. Additionally, the staff will help clients create nutrition plans, ensuring that the hard work put forth in the gym continues once the sessions are over.

"A coach can also help you with setting up a nutrition plan so that you are continuing that hard work outside of the gym in a safe way, instead of yo-yo dieting or starving yourself," Caldas said. "There is nothing more important than making sure you do not feel alone on this journey."

Caldas gets great enjoyment out of seeing the community that's formed within his gym since he began working there, calling it a privilege to be a part of.

"Seeing members build each other up and cheer each other on day in and day out is so rewarding," he said. "We can honestly say that every single member has achieved the results they want; they have either improved their fitness, increased strength and muscle or lost excess body fat."

CrossFit Bridgewater is located at 620 Bedford St. (Rt. 18) in Bridgewater, Mass., CrossFit East Providence at 10 Almeida Avenue East Providence RI, CrossFit Raynham at 1470 New State Highway Raynham, Mass., and CrossFit Dartmouth at 668A State Rd. (Rt. 6) in Dartmouth, Mass.
