All-Volunteer Theatre Enriches Somerville Arts Scene: Featuring Theatre@First
Theatre@First is an all-volunteer community theater that brings people in Somerville together for fun, whether you're on-stage, off-stage or in the audience. They've had volunteers who've gotten married, acted on stage for the first time and even been arrested! Discover what Elizabeth Hunter, the theater's founding artistic director, has to say about the organization and its upcoming performances.
Elizabeth Hunter is the founding Artistic Director of Theatre@First and has directed 12 shows with them, including this year's 10th anniversary production of "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead," the show that started it all. She also occasionally appears on stage, most recently as Hecuba ("Trojan Women") and as Mrs. Hawking, Victorian vigilante, in staged readings of the original dramas "Mrs. Hawking" and "Vivat Regina." She lives in Davis Square, Somerville with her husband and their daughter, and is proud to be part of the vibrant Somerville arts community.
