In a quiet office just off I-91 in Hadley, A Tranquil Journey Massage is the body's opportunity to relax and recover. Massage therapist Lisa Dowers holds certifications in many forms of massage therapy and she hopes her practice acts as a "mini-vacation" for her clients.
"The massage environment I provide is a relaxing one," Dowers said. "I like to make sure my clients are calm as I begin their session. I provide calming music, or nature sounds if they prefer. Their time for massage is about them."
The types of massage Dowers offers are wide-reaching. Her most popular offering is the Swedish massage. She also offers deep tissue, hot stone and reflexology. Dowers offers a few specialty massages, as well, including Mu-Xing therapy, a form of massage that utilizes bamboo and rosewood to relax the body, Gua Sha, a form of scraping therapy, and Ayurvedic Indian head massage.
Most of her massages are available for 30 minute, 60 minute or 90 minute sessions.
"I recommend, if possible, have a massage once a week," Dowers said. "If not, then at least have a massage once a month. Your body and mind need to heal."
Dowers is also a Reiki master. Reiki is a form of energy work where she is able to act as a conduit for energy to her clients, through touch. It's a Japanese technique that is supposed to reduce stress levels in the body and induce relaxation.
"I am grateful I am able to provide the service I do," Dowers said. "I like everything about being a licensed massage therapist and helping people on their path to health and wellness."
Prices vary, depending on length of the massage and the type of treatment. Dowers focuses on learning new techniques all the time, so she can constantly be providing her clients with the latest and most effective treatment options. Her practice is open every day, except Sunday, by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 413-219-4418.
