Zippity-Do-Dog

Sometimes you are craving some classic food-truck-style food, and there is not a carnival in sight. Luckily, if you are in or around Framingham, you can head over to Zippity-Do-Dog for some top-quality burgers and hotdogs, any time of the year. In the community for 15 years, and in its current location for 13, this sedentary trolley concession trailer is a classic spot for the Framingham community to get their fast food fix. Owner and operator Roland Houle says “every community has one of those littles spots… that has been there forever but serves really good food and everyone knows about it.”

Though it has a food truck-vibe, it isn’t mobile so you will have to go to them on The Cochituate Rail Trail, where you can eat at their picnic tables, in your car, or just standing around the trailer itself. They serve delicious, always grilled, hotdogs and burgers, some classics, and some with a twist, and they even have vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone.

Their signature hot dog is the Zippity Do Dog, which is a grilled hotdog with bacon, covered in homemade coney sauce, caramelized

onions and mustard. Followed up by the second most popular, which is a more-classic chili cheese dog, with homemade chili, that

might just make you want to order an extra bowl of chili on the side.

Zippity-Do-Dog has a long history here in Framingham. Roland says “I have people come and tell me ‘I used to come here as a teenager’ and now they are there with their kids.”

It's basically a “one man operation” as Roland does pretty much everything himself, aside from family that helps out in the busiest

times. He has worked hard to maintain the history of high-quality standards but he has changed up the operating times and is now

open on Saturdays and is staying open all winter long.

Roland is enthusiastic, friendly, and is clearly enjoying running Zippity, claiming that he “zero regrets” taking over, even despite the

difficulties during the COVID pandemic and looks forward to things opening back up and getting busier once again.
